Castelmola
Founded by the Sicels
in the 8th c.BC.
In the feudal times it belonged successively to the Marullo, and Villa
dicane families. The castle o what remains of it, stands on a good
strategic position, protecting the little town and the surrounding
countryside; it was built in the Middle Ages and considerably altered in
the 16th c.
In lower part of Castelmola, in Piazza Sant. Antonio, is the 17th c.

Isola Bella

Leaving the town by the state road we come to the pretty beach of
Mazzarò, a bathing resort of great tourist interest, with Isola
Bella just off it, and Taormina behind it. If you climb up to the
right above Taormina, there are yet more stupendous views of Etna
on one side and of the sea on the other .
